What tax year does the app support?
RetireSmart IRA uses 2026 federal tax brackets (IRS Rev. Proc. 2025-32) and current state tax rates for all 50 states plus the District of Columbia.
Does the app give tax advice?
No. RetireSmart IRA provides estimates for planning purposes only. Always consult with a qualified tax professional or financial advisor for personalized advice before making financial decisions.
Where is my data stored?
All data is stored locally on your device only. Nothing is transmitted to any server, cloud service, or third party. Delete the app and all data is permanently removed.
Does the app support married filing jointly?
Yes. You can configure a spouse with their own date of birth, retirement accounts, and RMD calculations. Tax scenarios support per-spouse Roth conversions, withdrawals, and QCDs.
What is an RMD?
A Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) is the minimum amount you must withdraw from traditional retirement accounts each year after reaching a certain age. The app calculates RMDs using the IRS Uniform Lifetime Table.
What platforms does the app support?
RetireSmart IRA is a native app available for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It is built with SwiftUI for a consistent experience across all Apple devices.
How do I export my tax summary?
From the Tax Summary tab, tap the export button to generate a comprehensive PDF covering your income, deductions, tax calculations, and scenario decisions. You can share it directly with your advisor.
What is Medicare IRMAA?
IRMAA (Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount) is a surcharge on Medicare Part B and Part D premiums for higher-income beneficiaries. Unlike tax brackets, IRMAA is cliff-based — crossing a threshold by even $1 triggers the full surcharge for that tier.
